How To Setup L2TP on MacOS

Follow these simple steps to get connected quickly and securely.

Access System Preferences

  • Click on the Apple logo in the top-left corner of your screen and select "System Preferences."

Network Settings

  • Click on "Network."

Add VPN Configuration

  • In the bottom-left corner of the window, click on the "+" symbol to add a new network connection.

Interface and VPN Type

  • From the drop-down menu that appears, select "VPN" for the interface and "L2TP over IPSec" for the VPN Type. Then click on "Create."

Server Address and Account Name

  • In the configuration window that appears, fill in the following details:
  • Server Address: Find your assigned server address by logging into the VPN panel at https://www.worldvpn.net/client/login and navigating to the Servers menu.
  • Account Name: Your VPN username
  • Password: Your VPN password
  • Check the box for "Show VPN status in menu bar" if you want to easily access the VPN connection from the menu bar.

Authentication Settings

  • Click on the "Authentication Settings" button.
  • For User Authentication, select "Password" and input your VPN account password.
  • For Machine Authentication, select "Shared Secret" and enter "worldvpn".
  • Click "OK" to save the settings.

Advanced Settings (Optional)

  • You can click on the "Advanced" button and configure additional settings if necessary, such as DNS servers or proxy configurations. Otherwise, leave this section as default.

Apply Settings

  • Click "Apply" to save your settings.

Connect to the VPN

  • To establish the connection, click on the VPN icon in the menu bar (it looks like a small "V"). Then select the VPN configuration you just created and click "Connect." You'll be prompted to enter your VPN account password if it's not saved.

Verification

  • Once connected, check your IP address to ensure you're browsing through the VPN server.
